Father's Day and Spring!

The Girl recently discovered pinterest, and made good use of it to whip up Father's Day confectionary. Mini cherry ripe bars, tiny teddies and the new Smarties with natural food coloring.

Then she made these up herself: UFOs

Wagon wheel biscuits, topped with marshmallows slathered in melted chocolate, and more Smarties. Very low calorie. I keep telling her she should go in for children's party catering...

On Father's Day The Boy took his dad to play golf, with a family friend and his son as well. Meanwhile, all the girls of the two families, and some more who dropped in, all had a girlie afternoon tea with  homemade treats. It was a lovely Father's Day all round, and a plan highly to be recommended.

Hope all you Australians were nice to your dads because it was Father's Day, and everyone else was nice to their dads because you are all lovely people.

Oh, and happy Spring! There are daffodils! And fruit blossom! And all the snails are rejoicing and eating all the lovely tender green leaves in the vegie garden. But only until I put my Gumboots of Death on. Then there will be no more mollusc rejoicing going on...

Are these chocolate-rich treats low calorie because they move so fast? ( Wagon wheels, get it?!)

No snails here Jo, you need a duck to go with those gumboots of death, combined, they are a force for good! :) Great plan to ship dad and son off so that the girls could enjoy fathers day ;)

Absolutely, Linda, and those tiny cars move pretty fast as well!
Fran, we had a duck once. It thought it was a human, and perched continuously on the verandah, quacking mournfully at us through the window, and pooping.
Our Father's Day here in the U.S. is in June, and it is a good day for fathers and sons to go off and do manly things. Wish I had a daughter to make chocolate covered biscuits--tho I shouldn't discount Jack, who makes a mean pie.

Trying to keep up with the housekeeping. It's a hard road to hoe, Jo, but I'm doing my best!

Those treats look scrumptious! It looks like your daughter finding Pinterest could be an adventure for you. Who knows what she'll cook up!

How yummy does all that look. I miss not having a girl to do girly stuff with sometimes. Spring is just awesome. Its 26 in Melb today. Oh how i wish i was at home in the garden.

Frances, I was gobsmacked the other day when my 19yo boy whipped up a batch of gingernuts because there were no biscuits in the house. My boy baked! He cooks manly meaty dishes, but hasn't baked since he was ten. There's hope for boys everywhere on the baking front!
About the hoeing... you do know that vacuum cleaners are easier on the carpet? Let me know what routine you work out - or if you decide not to have one!
Dearest Heather, are you still writing your blog for invited readers? If so, do please invite me!
Lynda, it's an unseasonal 21C here today, and Posy thinks she might expire from heat exhaustion!

If I was still writing my blog, I would definitely invite you! I'm not writing on it anymore. I tried it for a year, and it's just not a great fit for me right now. I'm so grateful that the blog helped me "meet" you, and I'll still be reading your blog all the time. Thank you for all the support you gave me. If I ever start up again, I'll make it public and let you know.

Pinterest is lethal for both spare time and waistlines! I am really starting to enjoy doing things like this as my kids get old enough to really help and do things (5, nearly 4 and Mr 2 who is content to lick the spoon ;) ). Lynda, if ever you want to borrow a girl, Allegra can put on the pink ribbons with the best of them when she wants to and loves to cook (and eat the dough) and she won't go too skitz on the sugar either. ;)

Heather, I was so sad when you stopped writing - I loved to read your thoughts, but you are right, sometimes these things serve us, sometimes they don't. But I would hate to lose touch with you, and am delighted that you will still be reading!
Jessie, I think the world would be so much better if we shared our children around a bit more. Great for the borrower and the lender! Takes a village...

Please Please Please, will someone take my 16 year old boy at the moment - im about to strangle him.
ha, i have blunnies of death. nothing more satisfying than the crunch of snail shells! got to do that on the weekend when i was at my parents' place.
and yes the warm spring weather is lovely - but have you seen tuesday's forecast? is it as bad for launie?!

Lynda, I think you should definitely do a swap with Jessie - one 16yo boy for one dear little blonde dot with dimples... sounds like you get the better deal... BUT we all know that 16yo boys are charming and helpful everywhere except at home. And think how useful he would be in Jessie's front yard...
e, eek, just checked the paper! The gardening disaster potential of Tasmania's spring weather is legendary. Sigh. Back to thermals, and hoping the spring blossom doesn't snap freeze...
