Nothin'

Today I rearranged beach pebbles in a pattern on my deck.

I put all the red fruits and vegetables from the garden together into bowls.

I did the dishes. Twice.

That's about it.

Doing nothing. It's my favourite and my best. It takes no determination or training although does require not listening to children who demand food but are perfectly capable of getting it themselves. It also requires some practice in lounging, and a certain amount of experience in idling.

I am getting quite good at it, but did you see the part where I did the dishes? Must do better. Oh, whoops, come to think of it, also made the bed. Darn. Never mind, nobody's perfect.

You are such an inspiration.
I must do better.
Today I did stuff but still it felt like such a long lonely, boring day. I'm sure if I was better at idling I'd enjoy it more. Ironically I spent some time reading How to be Free. 🤦

Cheers Kate

Kate, it's all the practice I get! But hey, if you don't like it, don't do it. Life is short - enjoy yourself exactly how you want to! Idling isn't a virtue, it's just something I like to do. You find what you like to do , and pursue that with the determination I apply to lying in the hammock and drinking tea:)

Patricia, and the same to you, friend:)

very jealous! would love to have the time to have days like that... but alas... the bills need paying! :(

Gretchen Joanna, yes:)

Anon, yes, well this is not how every day of my life goes. I do have to pay bills, but lucky me, I get to mess about and do nothing on a Sunday. I hope you do too xx

Beautiful patterns. Love the fruit of one colour!

Crucial question: did you read.
Jo said…
Lucinda, you know me, of course I read. Archipelago of Souls by Gregory Day. Set in Crete during WWII and on King Island (slightly north of Tas) after the war. Enjoying it immensely. Even better because it was one of those random choices where I picked it off the library shelf because I liked the cover:)

I particularly like the colour coordinated fruit bowls. I tend to go for single varieties in a bowl, must branch out into different themes...

Hazel, well, it's good to keep the family on their toes:)

Love the stones. I keep stones and little bits of driftwood especially for playing with. Good for the soul.
